They are also designed to last much longer than residential vacuums.

The electrical wiring in professional vacuums is also heavier and the vacuum can withstand being used for longer periods of time. The technical specifications for power and volts are also higher in professional vacuums than other standard vacuums.

The electrical cords for these types of vacuums are usually very long, so the vacuum can reach into multiple areas without having to move from place to place in search of an outlet. Additionally, professional vacuum cleaners use a three pronged grounded plug. Many professional vacuum cleaners have a motor that powers the vacuum and a separate motor that drives the brush.

Many professional vacuums come with a wider cleaning path for extra area cleaning coverage.
