Compare Vacuum Cleaners before you Buy
By Boozam

In order to get the right vacuum cleaner for your family you should compare vacuum cleaners before you buy.  There are several factors you look at before you buy a vacuum cleaner.

Items to Consider as you Compare Vacuum Cleaners

There are several things you should consider before you buy a vacuum cleaner.  First of all, consider which type you would prefer.  Upright canister vacuums are fantastic, because they are generally less expensive than canister vacuums and are great if you don't have to lift them.  They can be great for a person has back problems, because there is no lifting required as long as you use them on a single level.

Canister vacuums on the other hand are great for people that have stairs.  This is due to the fact that upright vacuum cleaners can become very difficult to try to not only drag up and down the stairs, but also to vacuum the stairs with.

Another thing you should compare when you buy a vacuum cleaner is whether or not you would prefer a vacuum cleaner that has bags or is bagless.  Bagless vacuum cleaners can offer a person less price over time simply because you do not have to purchase the replacement bags.  However, be careful if purchasing a bagless vacuum cleaner in the low-end range.  This is due to the fact that they may not pick up as many allergens and dust as vacuums that have bags.

Another thing a consumer should compare before purchasing a vacuum cleaner is how much power they need.  Vacuum cleaners are generally measured in amps.  The power can go anywhere up to 12 amps.  ...... (to be continued on next paragraph)

(continued)...... Although it is a good indication of how powerful vacuum cleaner is, high amps do not necessarily mean it is efficient as well.  However, generally speaking, more amps can generate higher power in a vacuum cleaner.  This is an easy thing to compare in vacuum cleaners.

Also before you buy a vacuum cleaner make sure you consider whether or not you'd need a HEPA filter.  Although HEPA filters are expensive, if a person has allergies, they are very helpful.  Make sure that if you do purchase a vacuum that has the HEPA filter feature that you replace it and according to manufacturer's guidelines.  Exceeding the length of time on those guidelines can make your HEPA filter less effective and at a certain point, not effective at all.

Above all consider what you'll be using your vacuum cleaner for and where you will be using it.  If you have a single level home, upright vacuums will generally suffice and may be easier in your back.  If you have a home that is more than one level you may wish to get a canister vacuum to save your backs some stress.  However, if you do not plan to use a vacuum cleaner within your home and instead may be using it in the garage, shop, or similar areas that may be dirtier than a house, you may wish to get something like a shop vacuum.  While not necessarily as ergonomically designed as house vacuums, these can be a great product for any type of outdoor-type use.  This is due to the fact that they are far more durable and will last much longer than this type of environment than a standard vacuum cleaner.
